About 3RDS Production Management

Materials & Production Management Suite consists of four base manufacturing modules, each dependent upon the prior for increased functionality. Interfacing with the Open Systems Accounting Software Inventory, General Ledger, Sales Order/Accounts Receivable, Purchase Order/Accounts Payable and Payroll, the Suite provides an integrated manufacturing interface to the back office. All interfaces are accomplished without changing standard code, further protecting the customers ongoing investment in their infrastructure.

Source Code and ODBC dictionaries included with all products at no extra charge.

Bill of Materials

Bill of Materials creates an interface with the Open Systems Accounting Software Inventory module to allow the building of a complete Bill of Manufacturing, including materials, sub-assemblies, operations, work centers and external processes in a single, comprehensive record. with multiple release capability and full editing, inventory management can be done quickly and efficiently.

This module allows not only management of the bill itself, but also allows for Engineering Change Orders to limit the modification of bills without proper authorization. Furthermore, the plant cost accountant can manage and edit standard costs without having to interfere with the inventory itself. Automatic posting of all costing changes keeps the accountants in the back office happy as well as making an efficient use of his or her time.

Each Work Center has the ability to absorb overhead based upon three methods of allocation, per hour, per work order and/or per piece. Labor rate can be different for each Work Center. Machine and labor standard times for set up and run can be established individually.

A full series of reports, from a fully indented Costed Bill of Material through many Where Used reports allows quick and easy access to useful information about your bills


Forecasting/MRP allows integration of the Sales Order, Purchase Order, Inventory and Work Order Processing modules to provide a single page look at current activities across the entire organization in up to 52 time periods.

Forecasts can be created from historical information captured in the history of the Inventory module or can be created from spreadsheet or input calculations from outside sources. These Forecasts can be created for individual sku’s, or whole catagories at a time. Once the forecast has been created, it can be exploded into is individual elements to test capacity and timing elements of the forecast.

Forecasts can be coupled with pplanning work orders or with live work orders and sales orders to generate a comprehensive picture of the material and sub assembly requirements needed.

Use of the auto generate feature allows automatic creation of work orders for assemblies or purchse requisitions (Requires OSAS Purchase Order) for materials. Both of these generate programs are created to allow more time in making decisions and less time in punching enty keys.

Shop Floor Control

Shop Floor Control allows management and capture of time from the shop floor, using either terminal or bar code entry. Management exception reports allow monitoring of employee compliance with company time policies. Virtually unlimited shift creations with variances for in/out and lunch.

Capacity planning provides a look at each work center usage based on live work orders or forecasts created in the Forecasting/MRP module. Using the assumption of unlimited capacity, reports highlight choke points, allowing management time to take corrective action prior to crisis.

Work Order Processing

Work Order Processing provides a full range of management tools to track jobs through the plant. Starting with the initial set up, created from previously created Bills of Manufacturing in the Bill of Matrial module, plant management can review the current status of all jobs to be processed and select the next jobs to be processed.

With a full set of shop papers that can be selected or eliminated, instructions and work flow can be easily managed. Issueance of materials, labor and overhead may be as detailed as each transaction with actual amounts to backflushing the entire job with a single keystroke.

Up to 999 releases for each job allows for easy management of repetitive jobs. Full editing capability and multi location flexibility makes the most specialized job to be created and managed. A full range of management reports allow for production monitoring. All production accounting is a by product of the shop floor process and merely needs to be posted to the General Ledger to keep the office accounting staff happy.

Interfaced with the Payroll allows for single entry of shop personnel for both manufacturing and payroll purposes with a single enty.

Jobs can be established for a group of actual orders and forecasts or for a single customer order.

Usage calculations by percentage or quantity allows the system to calculate the amount of raw materials to draw from stores, eliminating the constant back & forth to the crib because of issuance shortages.
