We were especially interested in the business rules Orderful offered because we have a need to onboard new shippers quickly. We knew we’d be able to set up these partners without having a dedicated mapping resource, which we’d always needed up until that point. We also loved the validation capabilities. Most members of our team have less than 3 years of experience working with EDI, but we saw that with Orderful, we could look at an X12 file and understand at a glance whether it was valid.

Orderful’s EDI managed services make it possible for us to focus on hitting our shipping windows and keeping our products flowing to retailers. Now, when we onboard a customer, we don’t have to figure out if their data works or how each testing platform works. We just make sure an order or invoice looks right in Fulfil and then send it off, knowing that Orderful is handling the EDI back-end that plugs into Fulfil.

We improved our process because we now understand EDI better thanks to seeing the actual X12 format and having visibility to go into the platform and learn about EDI. We can challenge our partner’s implementation decisions and make better choices.

I know nothing about EDI. But I can write code, so I used a Python library that handles EDI translations. I worked with it for about a week. It didn’t go well–in fact, I wasn’t able to translate a single file. As soon as I found out Orderful could translate EDI to JSON, it was an easy decision.

One of our biggest challenges was the time it took to onboard new trading partners. We’ve reduced that time from 3-4 months to just 1.5-2 months–about a 50% improvement. The validation engine ensures everything is right the first time, which has dramatically shortened our testing cycles.

With Orderful, we have visibility and control over our EDI. It’s great to finally own the keys to the kingdom and not rely on outside parties.
