Our Verdict…

We found 123worx to be a great blend of low cost with high functionality. While 123worx can serve residential remodelers, commercial concrete contractors, and various trades, it is not ideal for residential roofers.

Emphasizing a Microsoft look, this software integrates with Microsoft 365, making it perfect for companies already relying on Outlook, Excel, or Teams to manage their construction operations. A base price package includes 5 users, but larger builders may need to request a custom quote.

One-Click Workflow

One main benefit of 123worx software is the ability to manage all your construction workflows in one place. There are tools for generating custom estimates, sending out proposals, and even collecting invoices. A standout feature here is the option to update the entire process with a single click. For instance, once an estimate has been approved, you can click one button to transfer all the information over to your projects. No adding duplicate content over and over again at every stage of the process.

By moving projects along faster, construction employees, whether on-site workers, sales team members, or even HR staff, can focus on other work.

Comprehensive Document Libraries

The construction business requires a lot of documentation. 123worx offers not just one central document management system, it includes document libraries for all features.

Even better: the libraries are all the same design, so once you master the estimating library you can move on to any other library in the system with ease. And it’s easy to search for documents within each library based on all sorts of customizable criteria.

Audit Security

The 123worx system provides click-by-lick or second-by-second records of who is using the software, when, and how. This is particularly useful if you ever need an audit trail for legal purposes or simply as some form of client reassurance.

Users can also set custom alarms which can alert them to possible misuse. For instance, an alarm can be triggered whenever a user tries to download too many documents at once, allowing an admin to review what’s happening and stay informed.

What Features Are Missing?

While using 123worx, these additional features would have been welcomed:

  • More integration options: 123worx integrates with accounting programs like QuickBooks, but does not yet integrate with others. Fortunately, there are plans for eventual integrations with popular solutions like NetSuite.

Summary

Based on our experience with 123worx, we recommend this software for all sorts of residential and commercial contractors, except for residential roofers or particularly small operations. Businesses already using Microsoft 365 or QuickBooks can benefit from seamless integrations, and there are plans to add more integration options in the future. All of these tools come together to improve communication and collaboration throughout the entire construction project lifecycle.

The tiered pricing allows businesses to add on extra users based on what functionality they need. However, the extra costs can add up if a company wants to expand beyond 25+ active users, making this solution best for small to medium construction businesses.

We searched for a comprehensive construction software solution for 4 years. We purchased and tried many popular web-based software applications but none of them met our need to manage our construction business with a single integrated application. Then we found 123worx. We have been using 123worx for the past seven years and executed over 4,360 successful projects. This includes small to large renovation projects, new homes, as well as commercial projects. Besides design and accounting, 123worx is the only software used for managing our projects, running the complete business site as well as our collaboration platform for all the stakeholders including employees, trade partners, suppliers, and clients. It is a complete, professional solution to keep our team all on the same page and manage our business. 123worx is instrumental in making OakWood one of the largest, most successful, and profitable design and build firms in Eastern Ontario.
