A legal accounting software for time and billing management.
PCLaw is a robust legal accounting program, primarily used by law firms for time and billing management, trust accounting, and overall firm finances. It is designed to offer an all-in-one solution, integrating practice management with accounting and billing.
It maintains a desktop-centric approach with limited cloud capabilities, impacting its suitability for remote or hybrid working environments. Despite its comprehensive features, PCLaw’s server-based nature and the need for physical infrastructure make it less adaptable to modern, large-scale law firm operations.
As of December 31, 2023, PCLaw no longer supports certain older versions of the software.
PCLaw subscriptions start at $39 per user per month.
We have had PCLAW for over 11 years. They don’t have a very good cloud based system so everything has to be backed up on an internal server. Tech support is usually very good except for recently. Due to COVID 19 and this is the 6 month of COVID, for some reason, they seem to be very short-handed on tech support. I’ve called 3 different days and each time, because the office is in Hawaii, have been disconnected promptly at 2:00 p.m. HST. It is very frustrating if the system does not work because you cannot update client data if they path to the back up folder is not working.
It is an enterprise system. Covers billing to calendaring and communication.
Tech support during COVID and hours of operation if you live on the west coast and how at times the system does not connect properly to your stored data and you cannot pull up what was saved on PCLAW.
Keeping my firm’s finances organized and in control is critical. Trust accounting, operating accounts… keeping track of the money is absolutely essential for success.
