Nora IPLM
A cloud PLM and PDM software for small to mid-sized manufacturers needing BOM management, engineering change control, and native CAD integrations.
Product Overview
Nora IPLM is a modern, cloud-based Innovation and Product Lifecycle Management (IPLM) platform designed for small and mid-sized manufacturers and product companies. The platform connects product data management, eBOM and mBOM management, engineering change management, document management, workflow automation, supplier collaboration, configuration management, and AI-assisted processes into a single highly configurable environment.
Nora IPLM also provides CAD integrations for SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Solid Edge, and Creo, with manufacturing capabilities that extend the platform from engineering to manufacturing planning.
Pros
- Two-way CAD sync with SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Solid Edge, and Creo
- Pin documents, issues, and requirements to 3D models
- Offers a public sandbox and 30-day free trial
- Integrated product data (PDM) and BOM management
Cons
- Complex enterprise processes may require additional configurations
- Native CAD support limited to SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Solid Edge, and Creo
Target Market
Small and mid-sized product development companies, industrial equipment manufacturers, and engineering firms looking to modernize product lifecycle management without the complexity and cost of traditional PLM systems. Not Recommended For
Companies that do not develop or manage products, service-only businesses, and organizations seeking standalone document management.Nora IPLM is a cloud PLM and PDM platform built by Cerebital for small and mid-sized manufacturers. It handles product data, EBOM and MBOM structures, engineering changes, documents, and configurable workflows, with pre-built CAD integrations.

Key Features
- BOM Management: Build multi-level product structures with revisions, baselines, and defined relationships between items. Reverse mode answers where-used questions by showing every parent assembly a component appears in, and cost and weight roll up automatically across the structure. Engineering content can also be restructured into a manufacturing BOM that stays linked to the EBOM rather than becoming a separate copy.
- CAD Data Management: A Windows desktop app connects SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Solid Edge, and Creo to the platform, pulling model structures in and pushing changes back. Attribute mapping keeps CAD custom properties and platform fields synchronized in both directions, so a part number edited in either place stays consistent. Nora IPLM also generates neutral formats including PDF, 3D PDF, STEP, and IGES so reviewers without a CAD seat can open designs.
- Change Management: Engineering change requests and change orders are managed as separate records, each linked to the items, BOMs, documents, and CAD files it affects. An approved change request generates the change order, with changes routed to the engineers responsible for implementing them. Baselines let a team compare a proposed change against a frozen structure before approving it.
- Item Management: Parts are created under configurable numbering rules rather than manual entry, then tracked through lifecycle states from creation to obsolescence. Mechanical, electrical, and software items are handled as distinct types, each with its own attributes and forms, which suits products with mixed content. Bulk updates apply attribute changes across many items at once.
- Configuration and Variant Management: Rather than duplicating a BOM for every product variation, Nora IPLM holds all possible components and options in a single structure. Configuration rules rule out invalid combinations and generate the exact BOM for a specific order or unit. Updating shared product logic once keeps every valid configuration aligned.
- Document Management: Each save creates a new iteration, tracked separately from formal revisions, with user and timestamp recorded automatically. Two versions of a Word or Excel file can be compared side by side, and configurable review workflows validate documents before release. Files attach directly to items, BOMs, projects, or change records, with access controlled by role, team, or project status.
- Workflow Management: Approval workflows are configured rather than coded, so changing an approval route does not require developer time. Build workflows with conditional paths, loops, and branches, and can promote or demote an object’s lifecycle state automatically as it moves. Tasks can be assigned to groups rather than individuals, and a comment can be required before a task closes.
- Supplier Collaboration: Suppliers and external partners work in a dedicated workspace under a separate External Collaborator license, so they do not consume a full paid seat. The host organization controls which BOMs, items, and documents each supplier can view, download, or upload, and internal users are notified whenever a supplier uploads a file.
- Analytics and Reporting: Dashboards track PLM-specific measures like change cycle time, revision frequency, and engineering workload, with color thresholds that flag numbers moving the wrong way. Summary reports pull together any object’s attributes, revision and change history, approvals, dependencies, and flat BOM analysis. Views update in real time and export to Excel or PDF.
- AI (Nora Prima): Nora Prima analyzes BOM structure for component risk, cost, and readiness, and summarizes the technical, cost, and schedule impact of any proposed change. Similarity detection identifies duplicate or near-identical parts using structured attributes or 3D shape matching, and a material assistant reviews material usage across products for cost and compliance risks.
