DacEasy was acquired by Sage Software in 1994 and dissolved around 2000. Founded in 1985, DacEasy operated on IBM PCs. In 1987, Insilco Corporation acquired the company, but DacEasy continued to operate independently in Dallas. Sage continued the DacEasy brand until 2019.

Sage DacEasy Accounting

Sage DacEasy Accounting was an accounting system that included General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Purchasing, Billing, Cash, Recurring, Fixed Assets, Reporting, and DacAccess custom reporting. These tools helped perform business activities, track and report on vital business information, and grew with businesses from startups to mid-sized organizations.

In addition to these tools, Sage DacEasy Accounting offered benefits that streamlined company processes. Users could convert stored customer quotes to invoices without reentering information, assign different tax rates to items on a single invoice, and track revenue and expenses by department to determine profitability.

Sage DacEasy Payroll

Sage DacEasy Payroll offered an automated, straightforward approach to payroll processing, distinguishing itself from more costly payroll systems and outsourcing services. It managed standard and unique transactions, employee time cards, complete payroll, direct deposit, and payroll checks, either separately or in combination.

This software could automatically calculate and pay vacation or sick time, regular and overtime pay, and handle liabilities and deductions. Its flexibility allowed for the generation of payroll for hourly employees, salaried employees, or a mix of both. Additionally, businesses were able to produce and print payroll-related forms to meet filing requirements and use standard reports to streamline the payroll reporting process.

Sage DacEasy Order Entry

The Sage DacEasy Order Entry module provided the necessary tools for entering and monitoring customer sales orders, managing customer relationships from the initial quote to order shipment. It enabled the entry of transactions like quotes, orders, blanket orders, and sales returns. Users could also assign percentage or flat price discounts for specific products to certain customers or during set dates. The module equipped in-house sales staff to process phone orders and allowed salespeople working remotely or at customer sites to easily sync with the office by transferring orders.

Sage DacEasy Point of Sale

Sage DacEasy Point of Sale was a comprehensive yet user-friendly system that extended beyond mere sales transactions, aiding retailers in managing their businesses more effectively. It provided tools for the sales process and offered advanced reporting, quotes, layaways, and accounts receivable payment from a single interface. Users could enter multiple tender types and include two payment types in a single transaction.

The system also added flexibility to business operations, enabling the assignment of multiple sales tax rates for each transaction and setting promotional pricing for sales initiatives. Additionally, it supported the printing of bar-code labels for products, facilitating faster inventory management and checkout.

Sage DacEasy Job Cost

Sage DacEasy Job Cost was used to estimate job costs, track the expenses associated with jobs as they progressed, and compare actual costs against estimates. Ideal for wholesalers, distributors, light manufacturers, the construction industry, and any scenario requiring close cost control for individual jobs.

This module posted entries directly to Sage DacEasy Accounting and could also post to Sage DacEasy Payroll. It tracked inventory costs, transferring them to each job, and offered multiple billing options like fixed cost, cost plus, hourly, and others.

Sage DacEasy Business Center

Included with any Sage DacEasy edition purchase, the Business Center provided a unified point of entry, administrative tools, and comprehensive reporting for your Sage DacEasy installation. The built-in dashboard displayed key performance indicators such as bank account balances, top sales categories, and top customers. Alongside reporting tools that offered business insights, the Business Center included alerts for important situations and powerful administrative tools for easy management of the Sage DacEasy installation.

Sage DacEasy used the Pervasive.SQL database engine for fast and secure data access. Its advanced security features controlled user access and maintained an audit trail for data integrity.

Business Center

Sage DacEasy was a comprehensive business management solution with integrated modules for accounting, payroll, order entry, point of sale, and job cost. The Business Center offered administrative and reporting tools, providing a single point of entry for data from multiple modules.

The dashboard in the Business Center displayed key performance indicators, with tools to export data to Excel and other formats. The Business Center’s reporting tools allowed users to drill down into numbers for a better understanding of their business. Business Alerts notified users of important events like customer credit balances, account status, vendor invoices, inventory levels, and employee hours.

Order Entry

DacEasy Order Entry tracked customer activity from quote to shipment, interfacing with DacEasy Accounting for robust inventory and customer tracking.

It is working fine and doing what we expect it to do, but it does not give us enough flexibility for reporting and bringing information together to prepare the financial statements. I cannot seem to get rid of accounts with a 0 opening balance and zero activity.
