Digital Asset Manager
The Digital Asset Manager is a flexible tool that allows your designers to organize their images, sketches, fabric, trim, labels, swatches, print designs, and artwork. We currently use the PLM solution, the SCM solution, and we’re implementing AQM.
We had the basic challenges everyone has. Spreadsheets all over the company, containing bits and pieces about styles and not one cohesive area where the information was kept. We looked for a solution that could do that and communicate everything out.
We looked at several brands but felt NGC had what we wanted. One software company we could implement.
We have seen benefits as far as information dissemination much quicker. We can make changes quicker and it has cut down a lot of the steps required to enter styles into our ERP system to get the information around the company.
I came in April 2012 and my mission was to learn about the company and problems. I found that the company was dysfunctional and had systems that were not providing the data or the information people needed to run their business units, so we had to start from scratch.
We chose the NGC solution which includes the PLM, the SCM, and a partner company of theirs for their warehouse management.
It completely turned it around. The business was hurting and we had several seasons where the company wasn’t making money and that was because of decisions based on old data and systems. We changed the processes as well as the new software, and moving the systems and getting the information into it and providing that information to the decisions maker has helped us become more profitable.
We had multiple locations in China, Hong Kong, and New York. Our biggest problem was visibility and information flow. The next most important thing was accountability and time tables. Our current PLM was inadequate. So we migrated into NGC.
Since we switched solutions we had the possibility of running through our process flow from beginning to end, end to end. We found our gaps and reanalyzed the whole thing. The system gave us a new discipline on tying the processes and collecting information on what we were doing. It brought in discipline and the visibility that we were looking for and we now have calendars and a timeline.
