Autotask centralizes the workflow of our technicians. We place our calls into the call queue, and our techs are able to place their time entries in for proper billing. Also, our RMM and Monitoring software integrates with it, and places our monitoring alerts into a separate queue for our techs to look at.

It integrates well with QuickBooks, and has some really great reports on productivity, inventory, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Invoices printed by Autotask look very nice.

The good: The best part of the software is how simple it makes time entries for the technicians. They no longer have to figure out the contract before placing their entry, because Autotask follows the contract that you set up on the admin side. It’s low maintenance for the technicians, which makes their workflow a bit more efficient.

The bad: The reporting could be easier to configure. You can make custom reports, but it takes a while to process and I never seem to get it right the first, or even the second, time. It would be nice to have a how-to on reports, but you have to pay for it so we just fumble around in there. Some of the pre-written reports are pretty valuable and we use those a lot, but custom reports are always a hassle.
