SalesForce is an extremely powerful software if you are a developer or can afford one. For the small to medium non-profit, the hassle is not worth the reward.

The Good…

You can probably do anything you can imagine with it if you have the money and a development team.

The Bad…

It is extremely difficult for even a techie person to administer unless that will be their only job. It is too complex to perform even the simplest functions, like creating thank you letters to donors, without a significant investment of time. So although you don’t pay in dollars for the software, you pay in time.
