Outstanding in its flexibility to customize

November 30th, 2023 • Product Experience: still implementing • Role: End User

We were utilizing an antiquated proprietary system which began coming apart, pushing us into a search for new software. After an extensive review, we decided on ERPNext. The system is outstanding in its flexibility to customize to our specific needs as a cultivator/wholesaler and we see its ability to scale with us as we work to grow the business. With all that already as a stand-out choice, they also have an unbeatable price point.

Overall experience had not been positive

April 21st, 2023 • Role: End User

Overall experience had not been positive. While the feature that the program can be customized to the environment need may seem good, the customization that is needed to tailor the program to be useful is high, which results in inefficiencies.

Cons

When accounting data is exported to Excel, the output format is text, ie $6,543.21 DR or $1,234.56 CR. To make the data useful, extra steps are required to change the text to a value, $6,543.21 or ($1,234.56) which is then useful. I haven't found that screen customizations can be saved. The program doesn't seem to be able to retain last cost values in a weighted average structure. When Inventory quantities/values are first imported to the program, these become historical data. As inventory changes, the program calculates the new values (as expected). If the inventory quantity goes to zero, then when new inventory is acquired, it calculates the cost based on the historical (first reported), not what the cost was the last time we had that item. Someone would then have to manually enter and ensure what the "new" historical value is. For an inventory intensive environment, there is variability in what the value of inventory is, depending on what selection criteria is used.
