The software is very robust but from our experience we have found it to be complicated and difficult to learn. I feel to efficiently utilize the software you need an IT team willing to train the staff on the program. It is just too much of a machine for the small animal that we are. Because we are not well versed in the software, we have deployed alternative systems to support areas that are probably included within the system. I am sure the software is a great fit for a larger organization but not for a smaller one of our size.
SalesForce is an extremely powerful software if you are a developer or can afford one. For the small to medium non-profit, the hassle is not worth the reward.
You can probably do anything you can imagine with it if you have the money and a development team.
It is extremely difficult for even a techie person to administer unless that will be their only job. It is too complex to perform even the simplest functions, like creating thank you letters to donors, without a significant investment of time. So although you don't pay in dollars for the software, you pay in time.
