When the application was first developed in the mid 1980s, its focus was on serving the needs of multi-office law firms, by providing the most up-to-date information on every case to each person in every office, regardless of the geographic area. The company’s customer base still includes those law firms, but because of the product’s extensive and powerful flexibility, legal professionals in corporate legal departments, insurance companies, universities, legal services programs and public sector agencies also experience the benefits Legal Files offers.
Legal Files combines case/matter management and office management features. The case and matter management tools in Legal Files use sophisticated technology to consolidate all information about a case or file, providing instant access to contact information, notes, related parties, calendars, schedules, e-mails and documents. The collaboration and office management tools in Legal Files help users improve relationship management, become more organized, communicate more efficiently, automate routine tasks, assemble and management documents, monitor time and expenses, and manage issues, projects and workflows. Legal Files also includes comprehensive management reporting features, including a management dashboard. The software allows an office to become more organized and profitable by using its existing resources more efficiently.
The Legal Files user license includes the Legal Files Desktop Integration Suite with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat and the Drop Zone for documents and files created outside of Legal Files which need to be saved to a case contained within your Legal Files database) and a comprehensive, built-in document assembly and document management program.
The base features of Legal Files are not modular, but Legal Files Software, Inc. does offer optional modules such as the Audit Module, an Email Notification Service and the LFNET API Suite, as well as an optional app for the iPhone/iPad.
